Main Press Ram Fatigue

Earlier in 2018 Bodiam experienced a main ram fatigue failure whereby the barrel of their main ram had burst open and expended a lot of oil at high speed.
Bodiam have a hood covering their ram but there are plenty of plants that do not.

Proposal for addressing the hazard! While Bodiam have probably addressed the issue by having a thicker walled ram made, for plants that have a similar ram to Bodiam we have suggested a polycarbonate screen to sit between the hydraulic lines and shield people in the vicinity from direct exposure to the oil spray.

The polycarbonate should be rigid and thick.

It is held in place using captive fasteners as required by the latest version of the AS4024 standard . Contact Technigraphica if you need more information...
